The original AdvancedBan and AdvancedBanX list Bukkit and BungeeCord, so on **Velocity** you should check for an officially supported plugin first. _Information comes from the plugin pages and docs, last checked November 2026\. Back up the proxy. See [Backup Strategy](https://www.zcraftstudios.com/blog/minecraft-server-backup-strategy). 2. Put the AdvancedBan jar in the proxy's `plugins` folder. 3. Restart the proxy fully, not with a reload. 4. Run `/advancedban` to confirm it loaded. 5. Open the generated files and set up storage and messages one change at a time. Do not also install a second punishment plugin on the same network. For a network that needs shared history and a safe backup, use MySQL. 1. Create a database and a dedicated user with access only to that database. 2. Set `UseMySQL: true` in `config.yml` and enter the host, port, database, user and password. 3. Restart and check the console for connection errors. 4. Issue a test punishment and confirm rows appear. If the connection fails, the fork's page suggests checking the MySQL version, since older drivers can have trouble with newer MySQL releases. Keep the database on a private network, and use a strong password. Use your proxy permission plugin or the proxy's own configuration, and check wildcard behavior. Then test with a staff account. Make sure backends only accept proxy traffic: - Firewall backend ports to the proxy's IP - Use secure forwarding. The original AdvancedBan and AdvancedBanX list Bukkit and BungeeCord support. AdvancedBanX lists Velocity as a goal, and a community Velocity port exists but is labeled an early build with no support and notes that its commands may not work. For a production Velocity network, check whether a punishment plugin officially supports Velocity, such as LiteBans or LibertyBans, and test on staging.
