## Resetting a Minecraft Resource World Without Deleting the Main SMP

A separate mining world can protect long-term builds from destructive bulk resets.

**Who this guide is for:** Minecraft Java server owners or staff working on resource world administration. The exact commands, plugin options and compatibility requirements may differ between versions; check the relevant project's official documentation before making live changes.

## Define the goal before installing anything

Identify every world by its folder and multiverse configuration before changing anything. Decide whether the resource world includes Nether or End resources.

## Configure or prepare the system

Announce reset dates and explain that player homes or warps in the temporary world might stop working. Restrict access while changing world data.

## Test it like a real player

Back up the world and plugin records, then perform the reset in staging. Verify portals, inventory behavior and spawn before reopening.

## Backups, security and mistakes to avoid

Never assume deleting a folder is safe merely because it contains the word `resource`; inspect active settings and preserve the snapshot.

## A practical acceptance checklist

- \[ \] Record the current Minecraft version, server software and relevant dependencies.
- \[ \] Confirm expected behavior with a normal, non-operator player.
- \[ \] Test one failure or disconnect scenario for this feature.
- \[ \] Verify saved state after a clean restart.
- \[ \] Keep a working backup and a clear rollback owner.

## When to revisit the decision

Recheck the feature after a major Minecraft version change, a plugin migration, or a noticeable difference in player behavior. Compare measurements or feedback with the original goal, and change one important variable at a time. A working configuration is more useful than adding another plugin because a competitor uses it.

**Next step:** Reproduce the relevant workflow on a test instance, document what succeeds or fails, and move it to production only after the verification points are satisfied.
