# Setting Up PlayerWarps for Player-Created Locations

ZCraft StudiosOct 3, 2026Updated Oct 20, 2026

Server-defined warps work for spawn and shops. Player-created warps let the community build and share their own points of interest.

## Setting Up PlayerWarps for Player-Created Locations

_Not every warp needs to come from staff. PlayerWarps lets the community create and share their own._

PlayerWarps lets individual players create their own named, discoverable warp points (typically to showcase a build, a shop, or a community hub), separate from the fixed, admin-defined warps a server usually has by default.

## Install PlayerWarps

This guide describes a plugin category rather than one named implementation. Pick a project with documentation for your server version. The sample commands and YAML below illustrate the workflow; use your chosen project’s documented syntax instead of copying them unchanged.

If your chosen plugin uses a Vault-compatible economy, these are example integrations. They are optional unless that project lists them as dependencies:

[VaultConnect compatible economy, permission and chat plugins through a shared API.On GitHub ](https://github.com/MilkBowl/Vault)

[EssentialsXThe essential plugin suite for Paper and Spigot servers.On Modrinth ](https://modrinth.com/plugin/essentialsx)

Drop `PlayerWarps.jar` (or the specific variant a server is using; several plugins share this general concept under similar names) into `plugins/` and restart.

## Creating a Player Warp

```
/pwarp create <name>
```

creates a warp at the player's current location, under their own name. This is often limited by permission group to a maximum number of warps per player, configurable in the plugin's config.

## Browsing Available Warps

```
/pwarp list
```

or a GUI menu (depending on the specific plugin and version) lets other players browse and teleport to publicly listed warps.

## Setting Warp Visibility

Most implementations support public and private warp states. A private warp might only be reachable by invited players, while a public warp appears in the general browsable list for anyone.

## Charging for Warp Creation

Combined with Vault, warp creation (or additional warp slots beyond a free allotment) can be set to cost in-game currency. This is a common way to use player warps as a light economy sink, encouraging players to spend accumulated currency rather than only accumulate it.

## Warp Ratings or Favorites

Some PlayerWarps-style plugins support players rating or favoriting warps, surfacing popular community builds more prominently in the browse list. That helps on larger servers where dozens of warps otherwise become hard to discover organically.

## Moderating Player Warps

Since warp names and locations are player-created, a reporting or review mechanism (even just an admin command to remove an inappropriately named warp) is worth having in place before opening warp creation up broadly, because unmoderated player-generated content, even something as simple as a warp name, can occasionally need cleanup.

## Why This Matters for Community Servers

Beyond pure utility, player-created warps give players a sense of ownership and visibility for their builds: a shop or base that's actually discoverable by other players, rather than existing in relative isolation unless someone happens to stumble across it.

## Prevent unsafe destinations

Warp destinations can be abused if teleportation places players over hazards or in inaccessible locations. Check whether your chosen plugin has safe-location checks and whether players can move a warp after other players have bookmarked it.

During staging tests, try visiting a warp when the owner is offline, when the destination chunk is unloaded, and after the destination has been removed. Confirm that a failed teleport leaves the visitor in a safe place and does not repeatedly charge currency.

### Moderation policy example

Publish which warp names are permitted, how advertisements are handled, whether malicious trap warps are removed, and how users can report a location. If warps can cost currency, display that cost before the teleport.

Document the exact permissions for creating, editing, listing and deleting warps. Do not grant administrative deletion to ordinary user ranks.

## Prevent public warp abuse

Check what happens when a player creates a warp inside someone else's protected claim, removes the destination block, changes worlds or loses permission to create warps. Test the listing, deletion and teleport costs with a regular account.

Limit public visibility or require approval for community-sensitive areas where appropriate. A warp directory is a navigation feature, not a replacement for land protection.
